These piece is very unique in that it was made entirely from frame to canvas out of my sofa…..yes thats correct. Before taking our beloved old piece of furniture to the skip, I decided to salvage a few pieces of it, building the frame, re-stretching and prepping the fabric.
The name of the work reflects the time and events shared over many years. Using my overlapping, crosshatching technique, the colours in the oil move quickly from one to the next across the canvas like time passing by before your eyes.
We shared a lot of our life with this sofa as witness. We have celebrated, we have laughed, we have cried, we watched movies, we ate, we did nothing, we planned our lives. It’s surprising when you start to think about it, how many adventures begin with a sit on the sofa.
